The Black History Scavenger Hunting is a unique platform dedicated to uncovering and celebrating the often-overlooked stories of African American history. Founded by Dr. Mario D. Wallace, our mission is to reveal the rich and resilient narratives of African Americans from both the pre- and post-slavery eras, bringing to light the profound contributions that have been edited out of mainstream history.

Author, Founder and Researcher
Dr. Mario D. Wallace is the visionary founder of Black History Scavenger Hunting, dedicated to uncovering and sharing the rich and often overlooked history of African Americans. With a profound commitment to historical truth and education, Dr. Wallace has traveled extensively across the United States, immersing himself in the stories and sites that shaped the African American experience.
He has personally visited over 35 slave plantations and 30 Underground Railroad stations and explored more than 40 Black history museums in approximately 65 cities, including the District of Columbia. Dr. Wallace pays homage to the resilient communities established by African Americans post-Civil War, including historic towns like Tollette, Arkansas; Greenwood, Oklahoma; Mound Bayou, Mississippi; and Orange Mound, Memphis. His journeys have led him to interact deeply with the descendants of both enslaved communities and their enslavers, providing a unique perspective on America’s complex heritage.
Academically, Dr. Wallace holds dual bachelor’s degrees in International Language and Rhetoric and Writing, and a master’s degree in Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He earned his doctoral degree in Business Administration Leadership from Walden University. His extensive certifications include the Balanced Scorecard from the Palladium Group, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University, Change Management from PROSCI, Emotional Intelligence from the Hay Group, Communication from Wiley Everything DiSC Workplace, Facilitation from Development Dimension International (DDI), and an Agile Nudge certificate from the Indiana University School of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Wallace has a COVID-19 Contact Tracing Certificate from Johns Hopkins University.
Through his work with Black History Scavenger Hunting and beyond, Dr. Wallace continues to illuminate the narratives that have been edited out of history, offering a more complete and truthful understanding of African American heritage.
